"Traveling gets boring after a while. No real friends, never knowing when your next meal will be. I prefer staying in one place," Blair honestly said. "Actually I was just passing through when I heard about being a guard permently."

Reilly wiped himself with his sleeve. “Uh-huh. But I bet traveling is more exciting than staying here. I don’t know. I’ve never traveled before, mostly because of my health, I suspect. This town, this is the best thing that I’ve ever seen.” He looked around, marveling at the surroundings. “So why don’t you just settle as a citizen and have babies?”

Blair seemed to have choked on air and started coughing roughly, the question caught her completly off guard. Her face turned as red as a tomatoe. "Th-that's, ah, has-is, um, what are you talking about? I d-don't have time, I mean, that has n-nothing to do with what w-were ta-talking about!" she was completly flustered from the new topic.

Reilly heard Blair choke. Blocked her airways or something. “Even if I were a traveler, with the entire world to see, I’m sure I’d still want a family. But when everything is gone or wasted, or whatever you call it, don’t you want a reason to live? Don’t you want a family?” He turned to face Blair. He just realized that Blair had the most fascinating almost-too-fast-changing-expressions faces other than his cousin’s. He sighed, looking down. He mumbled, “Or maybe not, with this syndrome going on in my genes.”

Blair calmed down a bit after taking a few deep breaths. "Sure I would like a family one day, but I've never found a guy- wait what did you say?" she asked, now looking slightly concerned at what Reilly just mumbled. It may have been faint, but Blair caught it. Almost forgetting the embarassing moment all together she focused on what was just said, becoming more curious."Syndrome with your genes? What that? If you don't mind me asking."

“The, you know….” Reilly’s face went blank. One of his father’s friends talked to him about his condition once. He said it was some kind of syndrome. But what exactly is a syndrome? “Er, um, a genetic disability? Like cancer and disease and stuff like that?” he said slowly in a guessing tone, his face scrunched up in a pathetically serious expression. A syndrome is a genetic disability. That didn’t sound right.

Blair placed her hand on Reilly's shoulder and smiled. "Its alright if you don't know," she said in an understanding tone. "Besides that stuff doesn't matter to me. I think you make a fine guard and friend. Don't let stuff stop you from doing what you want to do." It wasn't Blair's place to say anything, but she did anyway.

“Huh,” Reilly looked at Blair. He has a new respect for her… friendship? “Uh, yeah, thanks. I should probably go back nowand guard some butts. Thanks for the lunch.” Reilly waved as he ran away from Blair. “Nice talking to ya. Let’s hang out more!”

Blair waved at the leaving Reilly. "Yeah, lets!" she yelled after him. When he was out of sight she continued walking, looking for anything out of order.
