“Survive? Please. All guards do is sit around bars and do nothing,” Artair said, beginning to walk away again. “Ugh… I’d rather be a blacksmith.”
“And you did not use my name!”

Tay tackled Artair to the ground. "Guards don't sit at bars, they break up fights and catch bad guys and protect the people!" She whined. "Plus, I'm not old enough to go to bars."

“Ack, you’re crushing me!” Artair complained from under Tay. “Gettofff! And that’s only what the guards say they do!”

"Take it back you kill joy! Or I'll sit on you. Forever. I can go days." Tay informed the unfortunate soul beneath her.

“Think, quick!” Artair thought frantically, “What will make this spazz get off me?” “H-hey, look!” Artair exclaimed, pointing over at a further part of the barracks, “The guard captain!” Sure enough, the guard captain was there… but it wasn’t Blair. It was an illusion, set up by Artair. It was a burly man in shiny armor, what Artair assumed the captain must look like.

Tay looked at the person excitedly, but was disappointed. It wasn't the really Captain. "No, that's not her." She said sadly. Ty and Sir had had done enough business here that she had gotten some stalking in. Blair was an absolutely gorgeous goddess, not some greasy dude. She started crying, her hopes having been crushed.

“Her?” Artair thought, surprised, “The guard captain is a girl?” Then Tay started to cry. “Oh… jeeze. Would you please get off of me?” he questioned, disturbed. He was too busy trying to get her off to keep the image of the burly man up, and he didn’t even realize it when he suddenly vanished without a trace.

Tay did notice, but it just confused her utterly. Which made her cry more. Then she was pretty happy the dude wasn't there anymore to witness her pitiful behavior. She allowed herself to be pushed off though, to upset to put up a fight. "I might as well give up. The Captain would never even talk to someone like me." She sobbed.

“Does the guard captain talk to anyone?” Artair questioned, annoyed by Tay’s crying. He assumed that the guard captain was some jerk who hoarded money, his/her only reason for being. “Would you stop crying?” he added, getting up and dusting himself off again.

"I don't know! I've only seen her from afar." Tay sniffled. She tried to get a hold of herself, but just started crying harder.

“Erg…” Artair mumbled to himself, thoroughly annoyed now. “Hey… hey, if she walks in and sees you crying, what will she think of you then, huh?” he asked, “She’d probably think you were a wimp, right? So you should quit it!” All he was doing was trying to get her to shut up, and he hoped it would work.

Tay looked up at Artair hopelessly and sniffled. "My head hurts." She said miserably, wiping her eyes on her sleeve.

“Er…” Artair mumbled, looking this way and that in hope of finding some help. But, wait… he was in the guard barracks. He wouldn’t find any help. “Well, get up, and go… drink some pain potions… or something,” he suggested, still uncomfortable with talking to a guard.

"No, I'm fine." Tay said, standing up and looking around. No one else was there. "Don't tell anyone 'bout that okay?" She asked, smiling once again.

“Er… okay…” Artair muttered, looking away. He had hoped that he wouldn’t have to talk to or deal with other guards, but it was obviously inevitable. How… sad. Well, he was used to unfortunate things now, living with his uncle. Looked like he wasn’t going to get a break from it. He started to try to walk away again, hoping this girl would let him.
